Theresa May objecting to the proposals

On 8 October 2020, there was a Parliamentary debate about the proposals. It was noted the Minister was respectful and keen to listen. He was not advocating the plans.

The figures for the speakers were:

Tory 36, Labour 11 and Lib Dem 1, Minister 1. That made (excluding the Minister) 75% Tories, 23% Labour and 2% Lib Dem. All the speakers were hostile to the proposals except one Tory, who didn’t state an opinion.

The speakers set out how the proposals would be unfair to their constituents.
